Miracle: Violent criminal misses point-blank kill shot

Jonathan H. lives in Vance County, North Carolina.

One morning around 9:30 A.M. Jonathan was asleep in bed when he heard a knock at the front door.

“Somebody was, you know, knocking on the door at 9:15, 9:30 in the morning,” said Jonathan.

“I wanted to roll over and stay in the air conditioning, and I just ignored it,” he said.

The knocking lasted for nearly 15 minutes.

Then, Jonathan heard a loud boom and a thud, which is when he grabbed his AR-15 from under his bed.

He slowly made his way down the hallway toward the noise.

Jonathan said, “I peeked around the corner, and saw a tall, slender black gentleman standing over me with a pistol.”

The intruder fired his 9mm handgun at Jonathan but missed.

Jonathan returned fire with his AR-15 and hit the intruder in the stomach and the shoulder.

“Evidently, it went through his body and struck the wall,” said Jonathan.

After being shot, the intruder ran out of the house to a waiting getaway car.

At that point, Jonathan called 911 and waited for help to arrive.

The intruder who was shot was taken to the hospital by his getaway driver and both men were arrested.

Thankfully, Jonathan wasn’t hurt, and nothing was stolen from his home.

“Once-in-a-lifetime incident that I hope doesn’t happen again,” said Jonathan.

AR-15s are popular for home defense for good reason.

They can be a great home defense weapon, especially when you are facing multiple threats.

Jonathan could have faced another intruder, possibly the man in the getaway car, but he was ready to deal with it.

Since the rifle platform is so good at what it does, there are always companies looking to make ammunition for the rifle to make it even better.

This is where the 6mm ARC round comes in.

What is the 6mm ARC bullet?:

Rifle ammunition is always changing.

These days, most militaries use intermediate cartridges such as the 7.62 NATO and the 5.56 NATO.

These rounds are effective at close range.

But, with advancements in body armor becoming more effective some militaries wanted a new round that was more effective.

This is one reason the 6mm ARC hit the market.

The 6mm ARC was developed by Hornady and released in 2020.

The round is designed to work with the AR-15 platform.

It’s supposed to offer low recoil, accuracy, and long-range effectiveness.

Pros of the 6mm ARC:

A lot of testing has gone into the 6mm ARC and it has two sets of ballistics.

One version is designed for gas rifles like the AR-15, the other is for bolt-action rifles.

The 6mm ARC has low recoil and is effective at long range, which is why it can be useful for bolt-action and gas rifles.

Compared to the 5.56, the 6mm has less wind drift, more velocity, and retains more energy.

In other words, it outperforms the 5.56 and can be used in the AR-15 platform with minor changes.

Cons of the 6mm ARC:

One drawback to the 6mm ARC is that it’s not ideal for hunting.

It can be used to take down smaller deer, but it’s not the best round for hunting large game.

Another thing about the 6mm ARC is that you will have to swap out some parts if you plan to use it in your AR-15.

For instance, you would need to change the barrel, bolt carrier group, and magazine.

Currently, Hornady is the only company that produces factory-made 6mm ARC.

Also, the 6mm ARC sells for about $1.50 per round.

So, finding it in stock may be a bit harder compared to other ammo options.

You can likely find reloads for sale but if you want it from a well-known ammo maker you have to go with Hornady.

As ammo availability increases, the 6mm ARC round is worth considering and trying in the future.

You can use the round in all your range training and drills and see how it performs for you.
