According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, a resident of Sunrise Ranch in Montgomery, Texas was awakened at 3:20 a.m. one morning by their doorbell.
However, when the homeowner came to the door, no one was there.
After reviewing home security surveillance footage, the resident saw a barefoot woman without pants and what appeared to be a broken restraint hanging from her right wrist.
In the video, the woman is seen walking up to the front door, ringing the doorbell, and then eventually running away.
After the Sheriff’s Office posted the footage of the incident online, they received multiple reports that the woman was also captured on other home surveillance cameras in the neighborhood.
Thanks to the security footage provided by residents, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they have identified the 32-year woman in the videos.
The woman was reportedly fleeing the nearby home of her 49-year-old boyfriend, who police later found dead from an apparent suicide.
Since the woman was a victim of domestic violence, police have not released her name or any other information related to the incident.
The reality is, home security surveillance cameras are unquestionably the new neighborhood watch program.
Never before have we seen the importance of adding security cameras to your home, and increasingly, police are turning to this footage to help solve crimes.
While there is no doubt that police try to solve home burglaries, most big cities are operating understaffed departments and home burglaries often take a back seat to major crimes.
And while a complete home security surveillance system can cost you thousands of dollars, I want to share with you some options that each cost under $20.
Zosi 720P security camera. This security camera provides 1.0 megapixel resolution and 720p full HD, which ensures clear and bright pictures.
The camera has a built-in menu that can change to 4 different video outputs HD-TVI, AHD, CVI, and CVBS.
Now, this camera doesn’t come with a DVR but is fully compatible with major brands such as Hikvision, Samsung, Night Owl, Best Vision, and HD View.
The Zosi camera is waterproof, has night vision and sells for only $18 on Amazon.
GE door stop alarm. If you regularly stay in hotels or live in an apartment, the GE door stop alarm is ideal for preventing unauthorized entry.
The door stop alarm requires no wires or complicated installation and is powered by a single nine-volt battery (not included).
All you do is place the pressure-sensitive door stop alarm at the base of any door, and the device will emit a loud 120-decibel alarm when the door is opened.
The GE door stop alarm sells for about $15 on Amazon.
Addalock. The Addalock is a device that adds a second lock to your doorknob. You can use it on a front door or on interior doors to block anyone from getting in.
It takes seconds to install and it won’t leave any holes or marks, so it’s a great security device for renters or someone who is staying somewhere for a short amount of time.
The Addalock sells for $18 on Amazon.
Mr. Beam motion sensor light. The Mr. Beam motion sensor light is 600 lumens, waterproof and operates on 4 D batteries. The sensor can detect motion from 20 feet away and the light will turn off after 20 seconds if no motion is detected.
Typical usage will provide about 3,500 activations so the batteries will last a decent amount of time. One Mr. Beam motion sensor light sells for $18 on Amazon.
Wali fake surveillance camera. If installing security cameras isn’t an option, then I would suggest considering fake cameras. They are easy to install and look very real.
The best part about these cameras is that they include a red blinking light that is powered by two AA batteries.
In other words, a bad guy will think that the camera is working and operating since it has the red blinking light.
There is no wiring required and you simply put the batteries in and install the fake camera wherever you’d like. You can buy two fake cameras for about $13 on Amazon.
The fact is, you can easily spend thousands of dollars installing the best and most expensive home security devices around your home. And, if you can afford it, I would definitely do it.
But, you can still take steps to protect your home, as shown above, that won’t break the bank.
