In regards to the question you had concerning Emtek locks. I used to be employed as a locksmith and, Emtek is just a knock-off of Kwikset locks. No better, no worse. Builders are installing them, instead of better brands like Schlage, simply because of better bulk prices. When a builder installs a brand of lock on a house they are building, they use the same lock on every house in that development…

Hi. My name is Joshua, and I have a question about the Versa knife: it explains all of its functions except the “glass breaker”. What is the glass breaker made of? What metal, or is the tip made of ceramic? I am a happy owner of one of these knives, and have carried it since I’ve gotten it. I do demolition work and have broken a lot of glass with this knife in particular. I have tried with other knives and “glass breakers” but have found none in comparison just short of a hammer. What is the mystery material, please?

Answer: I’m thrilled to hear that the Versa Knife has withstood your destructive use and hard work. The fact is my team and I use this knife on a regular basis and I completely agree with you that it’s incredibly durable.
As for the knife, it’s made of true quality, high chromium AUS 8 Stainless Steel and has a Carbon content of .75% that can achieve a hardness of HRC 58-59.
In other words, as you mentioned it can be used to complete even the toughest jobs, which is why I always carry this knife. Now, regarding the glass breaker, I just reached out to our custom knife-maker because I’m having a brain-freeze on what it’s made out of. I’ll shoot you a private message once he gets back to me.
How do I dispose of ammo that is unusable for any reason?

Answer: When it comes to disposing of ammo, the first priority is safety. Obviously, you can’t just throw it away because who knows what could happen.
The last thing you want is an exploding trashcan. So, I would call your local gun range and see if they can dispose of it, which they often will. If they won’t do it, call your local police department and see if they’ll take the ammo.
I live in a windy town. I have played the scenario in my head of using pepper spray. Just as I am about to spray, I would turn my head and tuck it into my upper arm. What do you suggest to protect oneself from the spray effects?

Answer: Unfortunately, pepper spray is very unpredictable, which is why it’s not one of my favorite self-defense tools. However, if you choose to use it, you need to be prepared for the fact that it will most likely get on you.
This is why I would test it on yourself (yes, I’m serious) to see how you react to it since every person reacts differently. Your plan of tucking your head is a great idea and remember to flee to safety as soon as you can.
What about Grizzly Bear Spray? If it can stop a grizzly, surely it can do a number on a human?

Answer: Pepper spray and bear spray contain the same active ingredient — oleoresin capsicum. However, bear spray contains a much lower concentration.
A typical pepper spray used for self-defense has an oleoresin capsicum (OC) concentration of about 10%, compared to a typical bear spray that has an oleoresin concentration of about 1 – 2 %.
Bear spray is designed to simply scare away a bear, therefore, it doesn’t need a high concentration of OC.
Now, there is nothing wrong with using bear spray for self-defense, but I would absolutely recommend getting pepper spray since it will pack more of a punch and most likely be more effective at fighting off an attacker.
Lastly, bear spray tends to be more expensive and usually comes in bigger canisters compared to the many options you have with pepper spray.
