Hi. I’m Jason Hanson. Welcome to Spy & Survival Briefing. You’ve just taken the first step toward becoming more confident, self-reliant and capable of keeping your family safe.
This newsletter is designed to give you the spec ops-level insights you never knew you needed to protect your home, your privacy and your family — no matter what happens. In each issue, my team and I will tackle the biggest threats facing Americans today and provide you with simple, inexpensive ways to fight back and protect yourself.
As a former CIA officer, I’ve had the opportunity to perfect intelligence-gathering techniques, critical security measures, weapons, and self-defense training, as well as covert surveillance. I’m committed to sharing with you the knowledge that I gained during this time so that you can apply it to your own life.
But my expertise isn’t limited to self-defense tactics and tips on how to select (and store) the best weapons to protect yourself — although it does include that. I’m also concerned about ways you can protect your home, both to deter break-ins and defend yourself against intruders if those defenses don’t work.
I want to ensure that your wealth is secure in case of an economic meltdown. I want you to be positive that you and your family will know how to stay safe in your home and avoid getting swept up in a potential epidemic like Zika or Ebola.
I’m committed to teaching you how to live independently and be self-sufficient, rather than rely on the government or other organizations to have your best interests at heart. I promise you this: I personally stand behind everything that I write and I live the life I write about.
I dive into some seemingly crazy techniques, but after years of training and use in the field, I know they work. And I also personally put all of them into action to protect myself, my wife and my young children.
I understand that this sounds like a lot to accomplish in just one newsletter. And it is! That’s why I’ve put together this Spy & Survival Briefing Welcome Series to help you get started with your subscription.
All the information you need to make the most of your subscription can be found in these Getting Started Pages. But please don’t feel overwhelmed. I’m here to guide you through everything.
This series will cover the numerous benefits you’re entitled to receive… and the resources available to help you make the most of your subscription… and introduce you to the rest of my elite team. Next, I’ll tell you about my background and why I believe it’s vital that every single American be well prepared for whatever might come their way.
I hope you’re getting familiar with your subscription and everything it includes. Before we move forward, I want to tell you a bit more about myself and my mission in writing this newsletter.
I was born and raised in northern Virginia, but recently moved with my beautiful wife and three young children to southern Utah. Before our move, I spent six years with the Central Intelligence Agency. Although the agency was a wonderful place to work, I could not see myself working for the government my entire life. I left to spend more time with my family… but I didn’t want to let my newfound skills go to waste.
So I decided to start a security business. My wife and I began running courses in which I could share my spy and survival skills with the world. We train everyday Americans how to escape from a kidnapping… how to master evasive driving should you ever encounter potential carjackers… how to effectively and safely use a gun if you find yourself in a life-threatening situation… and a whole host of other lifesaving skills.
Many of these courses take place on my 320-acre ranch in Utah, where we have the freedom and the space to train. I’m an NRA-certified instructor, and I have extensive experience in personal protection, risk assessment, security operations, private investigations, counterterrorism and more. I put this unique skill set to use training my fellow Americans who are looking for the ability to defend themselves. Over the past several years, I have trained thousands of people in personal protection, concealed carry and escape and evasion courses.
I have one goal in my courses, which I plan on carrying over into this newsletter: to show you the skills you’ll need in today’s uncertain world to protect yourself, and do it in a relaxed and welcoming environment. In my courses, I do everything I can to avoid training with an intimidating, military style. I hated it when people did that to me during my various trainings at the agency and other places, and I don’t want to put any of my readers through that.
The bottom line is this: I believe there are few things in life as important as protecting yourself and the ones you love. Every person of every gender, age and size has the ability to defend themselves if given the correct tools. My goal in writing Spy & Survival Briefing is to provide you with the confidence, skills and knowledge to better protect yourself and your family. I am very excited about the journey we are about to take together.
The next step to getting started with your Spy & Survival Briefing subscription today is checking out the resources below. They’ll help you better understand the situations and solutions we’ll cover in coming issues. With these resources, you’ll be on your way to being a pro before the next issue or alert even hits your inbox.
At the beginning of this “Getting Started” series, I told you all about my background and why I want to share my unique skill set with you. Now allow me to introduce my fellow operatives.

Michael D. served our nation as an intelligence operative for over two decades. His service began as an airborne reconnaissance Special Missions Unit (SMU) team member. He completed over 70 combat missions and was awarded the Air Medal and First Oak Leaf Cluster. He was recruited by the NSA where he served as a covert intelligence officer.
Later, he went to the CIA where he was assigned to the “Hard Targets” unit where he planned and conducted a broad range of missions in high risk environments around the world.
He then went on to serve at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) as part of the Directorate of Clandestine Human Intelligence Operations.
Omar Hamada is a 14-year veteran of the U.S. Army, 10 years of which were spent in the U.S. Army Special Forces. He is a qualified paratrooper, scuba diver, U.S. Navy surface-supplied (hard hat) diver, combat medic, flight surgeon and diving medical officer. He is also a decorated recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.
In the medical field, Omar has an extensive list of credentials, earning his Bachelor of Science (BS) from Union University and his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Currently, Omar works as an emergency room physician at one of the largest and busiest hospitals in Tennessee.
He is also an active member of several professional organizations, including the International College of Surgeons, the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States and the Wilderness Medical Society.

Matt Numrich is certified in Jeet Kune Do, Krav Maga, Filipino Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He’s an expert in hand to hand combat and has trained the Federal Air Marshals, ATF, Army and Navy, to name a few.
After the attacks of September 11th, he was a go to source for the media about how Americans can protect themselves when they don’t have a weapon on them.
Currently, he is the head Instructor of Spy Black Belt, a combination of the best intelligence operative and special forces tactics to keep you alive.
Together, we aim to bring you the highest-level information — information you can’t get anywhere else. And, most importantly, information to keep you and your family better protected no matter what happens.
By subscribing to this newsletter, I can tell that you’re committed to protecting your family, and I will work every day to ensure you’re prepared for whatever the future has in store. Now, I am going to show you exactly how you’ll be prepared. Remember, Spy & Survival Briefing has one simple goal: To provide you the skills you’ll need to protect your home and your family in today’s uncertain world no matter what happens.
I’ll be covering some of the biggest threats to your safety, from home invasions and street muggings to global pandemics and what to do in the event of an economic collapse. Here, I’ll walk you through each of the benefits included in your subscription and explain what you can expect in the coming days, weeks, and months. But first, I want to share with you…
One of the most common things I hear in my live self-defense courses is self-doubt. People come to me because they believe they’re too old, too small, too weak, or too timid to evade or fight off an attacker. I’m here to tell you that is simply not the case.
In my experience, it’s not your size or quickness that matters. In fact, if you know the right moves, you can drop someone twice your size. I saw it all the time while in the agency. I’m a relatively small guy myself… But I have defended myself against much larger men.
You can do the same by using simple, easy-to-master maneuvers like The Trident. Or by carrying a covert self-defense tool like a tactical pen or monkey fist. To bring you even more cutting-edge tools and techniques, I’ve assembled a team of contributors, many of whom are experts in their respective fields.
People like Tim Larkin, whose Target Focus Training is called “the most devastatingly powerful, scientifically proven self-defense system in the world today,” and Damian Ross, whose method of hand-to-hand combat is so brutal it’s been banned by the military and police forces.
With my team in place, you can be sure that you’re getting state of the art advice from expertly trained, ex-military self-defense experts. If someone tries to mess with you or your family members in a dark alley, they’re going to seriously regret it. But Spy & Survival Briefing isn’t just a self-defense letter…
With a decade of experience in casing safe houses and running my home security business, I’ll show you how to…
What place is more important to you — and more vital to protect — than your home? It’s where all of your most valued possessions are kept, where you can completely let your guard down, and where your closest loved ones sleep at night. So why wouldn’t you do everything in your power to protect it? The unfortunate truth is most people’s homes are extremely vulnerable.
That’s why I’ll dedicate time to ensuring you have the information you need to protect your family.
Your home should be a sanctuary where you and your family feel safe from intruders.
Let’s face it: The world is increasingly becoming a scary place. Every day, it seems we’re faced with new horror stories. International flights crash or go missing. Students studying abroad disappear after a night out only to be found dead.
Even mass shootings, bombings and vehicle ramming attacks are becoming more common. I’ve traveled all over the world to some extremely dangerous locations. Needless to say, I know a thing or two about situational awareness to keep myself and my team safe.
That’s why in each monthly issue I’ll share simple travel techniques that you’ve never considered (with step-by-step instructions, of course) that will keep you safe. You’ll learn how to avoid getting mugged when walking to your room and what hotel floor you should stay on… where to sit on a plane to increase your chance of survival in a crash, or how to increase your chances of being rescued if you’re taken hostage. (This happens way more often than you think. Especially in Mexico, Brazil and the Philippines.)
In short, Spy & Survival Briefing helps you…
My goal in this newsletter is not to scare you. But the bottom line is I know the realities of the world we live in. It’s my objective to make sure that you’re prepared for the worst. That way, you can enjoy your life with the confidence that you’re prepared for whatever life throws your way. The scenarios we’ve gone over are just the beginning. The newsletter also covers:
As a subscriber, you’ll have the confidence and freedom to live the way you want, with the reassurance that you and your family are safe. With the tools I’ll recommend and the skills my contributors and I will teach you, you’ll begin to view the world around you a little differently. And that different perspective could one day save your life.

Throughout this series we’ve covered a ton of information about your subscription. I’ve done my best to explain just what you can expect from Spy & Survival Briefing. But I understand that a new subscription can be overwhelming and that you’ve received a lot of important information over the last few days. Because you might have missed something along the way, or you’d like to review it once more, I’ve broken this information down into three simple steps:
To make the most of your subscription, you’ll need the background knowledge and understanding of what will be covered in each issue. Without it, it will be like trying to ride a bike without having ever had training wheels — not impossible, but it makes the task much harder and leaves you more vulnerable for failure. Consider these resources your training wheels in preparation for your next issue.
Here’s a complete list of everything you’ll receive with your Spy & Survival Briefing subscription:
If you’re like me, your email inbox can get a bit crowded. So it’s important to follow this step to make sure you don’t miss any emails. If you aren’t receiving your issues and alerts, you won’t be able to benefit from your subscription. So keep an eye on your inbox!
As always, you can reach out to our customer service team by emailing Support@SpyBriefing.com if you need help getting access to your subscription. Or if you have any questions about how your subscription works and what you’re entitled to, pick up the phone and call 435-572-4432. Our customer service team is available Monday–Friday from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. ET. They’re always happy to help. Otherwise, keep your eyes peeled for the latest alert to hit your inbox.
